She has been an educator for several years in New York City and the Chicagoland area. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters in Secondary Education in Social Studies. Currently, she is a contributing writer for the Chicago Defender, a freelance writer in the Chicago Now Blog Community as "Seven Gunn Says". She works as an educator, film critic, pop culture writer, film producer, and film director.

WORK:
Recently, Seven Gunn wrote, directed, and produced a short film called, “A Sisterhood of Signatures” (2019) with the help of renowned actress/producer Cynda Williams (from Mo' Betta Blues & One False Move). She co-wrote, co-produced, and directed the short film "Black Girl Vs. Ambiguous" (2020) with her mentee, 13-year-old Maya Hooks. In the Summer of 2020, Seven Gunn wrote, directed, and produced a short called "Black Mama Sable" (2020) through the Digital Storytelling Institute Summer Program (UChicagoArts/Jonathan Logan Center/Community Film Workshop of Chicago). These three films have been making their way around the film festival circuit. Also, her monologue called "Black Teacher's Guide to the Galaxy" was selected to be performed at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago in November 2019 as part of "The Black Monologues".
